## Details:

How to multiply big numbers by drawing lines.

## Things needed:

1 x Piece of paper

1 x Pencil

## Instructions:

Start by drawing two upwards sloping diagonal lines, then four upwards sloping diagonal lines (the red lines). This represents 24.

Next draw one downwards sloping diagonal line, then two downwards sloping diagonal lines (the blue lines). This represents 12.

Starting at the left count the number of times the the lines cross (the light blue shaded elipse). In this case they cross 2 times.

Next count the number of times the lines cross in the middle section (the orange shaded elipse). In this case they cross 8 times.

Finally count the number of times the lines cross in the right section (the green shaded elipse). In this case they cross 8 times.

And there is your answer.

## Information:

Don't forget, if the number of times the lines cross is greater than 10 you need to carry the one, just the same as you do when you are adding.
